At the core of Chapin Hall is a staff of approximately 70 researchers, many of whom are national and international authorities in their fields. They come from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, including social work, child welfare, public policy, sociology, psychology, economics, education, and law. A number teach at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration or Harris School of Public Policy. And many come to their research with years of experience as leaders in government or community organizations, giving Chapin Hall its distinctive blend of academic rigor and practical problem solving. Our research fellows and senior researchers speak and write extensively to a wide variety of audiences. Their expertise is sought regularly by legislators, agency and program administrators, philanthropic leaders, and the media.
